Are We a Good Fit?

What to Know About our Practice

Choosing a pediatrician is an important decision. The best relationships develop when a family and their pediatric care team share a compatible approach to care, communication, and decision-making. This foundation helps build trust and supports a respectful, collaborative partnership centered on your child’s well-being.

The information below explains our approach, office policies, and services. We invite you to review it as you consider whether our practice is the right fit for your family.

We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment, and we would be honored to partner with you in caring for your child.

  • Medical Home

We are committed to providing comprehensive, coordinated care and serving as your child’s medical home. Whenever possible, please contact our office before seeking non-emergency urgent care or making an appointment with a specialist. We may be able to provide the care your child needs in our office or help connect you with the most appropriate specialist.

If your child receives care from a specialist or another healthcare provider, please ask that a copy of the visit report be sent to our office. This helps us stay informed, coordinate your child’s care, and keep their medical record complete and up to date.

  • Vaccines

We strongly support routine childhood immunization. Our vaccine recommendations are guided by the best available scientific evidence and informed by current guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. When recommendations differ, we carefully review the evidence and discuss our recommendations with families.

Vaccines are carefully studied, safe, and effective at protecting children and communities from serious diseases. We understand that parents may have questions about vaccines, their ingredients, possible side effects, or the recommended timing of each dose—and we welcome those conversations.

Our role is to provide clear, balanced, and evidence-based information, help parents interpret the science, and answer their questions without judgment. Our providers have been studying immunology for more than two decades and are happy to explain the science behind our recommendations so that each family can make informed decisions for their child with confidence.

  • Antibiotics

We strive to avoid overusing antibiotics by educating families on their proper use and following evidence-based guidelines to ensure responsible prescribing. Many cases are viral and do not require antibiotic treatment. Instead, our pediatricians take the time to explain alternative approaches and the importance of allowing the body to heal naturally when appropriate.

Additionally, we do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone, as we strongly believe it is not sound medical practice to do so without a proper assessment. Antibiotics are only prescribed when deemed necessary and appropriate after a thorough evaluation, prioritizing the well-being of our patients while avoiding the risks of antibiotic resistance and unnecessary side effects.

  • Technology

Using Technology to Enhance Your Child’s Care

We use technology to make managing your child’s healthcare simpler and more convenient. We encourage families to use our website and patient portal to access helpful information, communicate with our team, and manage aspects of their child’s care. Automated reminders can also help you keep track of upcoming appointments, routine visits, and recommended immunizations.

Technology also supports the care we provide in the office. Digital photoscreening helps us identify potential vision concerns, while digital otoscopes allow us to capture detailed images of the ear that can be shared with an ENT specialist for consultation when appropriate.

  • Office Hours

We offer routine well-child visits and sick-child visits designed to accommodate busy family schedules. Our office opens at 8:00 a.m., offers extended hours Monday through Wednesday, and is also open on Saturdays.

Same-day appointments for acute concerns are almost always available and can often be arranged on short notice. Please call us before coming to the office, even if you are nearby. Calling ahead allows us to prepare for your child’s needs, find the best available appointment time, and keep the day running smoothly for everyone.

A $25 convenience fee applies to appointments after 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays. This fee is waived for patients who are current with well-child care at our practice and for families establishing ongoing care with us.

  • After Hours

Our providers are available via phone and WhatsApp to help with urgent questions outside regular office hours. We generally respond during the evening, and messages received later at night are reviewed early the following morning.

This service is not continuously monitored overnight and should not be used for emergencies. If your concern cannot safely wait for a response, please seek urgent medical care. For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Please contact our office during regular hours for non-urgent matters, including appointment requests, forms, and routine prescription refills. You may also find helpful guidance in our child health resources on our website.

  • Timeliness & Missed Appointments

We value your time and work hard to keep our schedule running on time. Please arrive five minutes before your scheduled appointment so that we can complete check-in and begin your child’s visit promptly.

We understand that unexpected delays happen. However, arriving late may limit the time available for your child’s care, and we may need to reschedule the appointment.

Missed appointments and late cancellations prevent us from offering that time to another child who may need care. A fee may be charged for appointments that are missed or canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

  • Insurance and Billing

Before your child’s visit, please confirm that our practice participates with your insurance plan. We currently participate with Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Triple-S, MAPFRE, TRICARE, and ELAN. We do not currently participate with MAP.

Because networks and coverage vary among plans offered by the same insurance company, please confirm with both our office and your insurer that we participate with your specific plan.

Please bring your current insurance card to each visit. Copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and other amounts due at the time of service should be paid during your appointment. If you anticipate difficulty making a payment, please contact our billing department before the appointment so we can discuss available payment arrangements.

Our billing team is happy to assist with general insurance and billing questions. However, your insurance company is the best source for details about your specific coverage. We make every effort to help families avoid unexpected charges, but we are required to bill according to the services provided and applicable billing requirements.
